October, 2014: Our lodge is currently holding a fundraiser to provide assistance and support to a fellow member of the Bangor community. (Sheldon) Tyrone Hoggard has been diagnosed with a severe anemia that has developed into myelodysplastic syndrome, a cancer that can further develop into leukemia if left untreated. Doctors determined that a stem cell transplant is the only treatment that will remedy Tyrone’s affliction.
Through the years, Tyrone has taken his role as husband, father of seven, grandfather of six, church member, brother, uncle and friend with sincere affection and compassion, always ready to make a physical contribution to help others. He has undergone the necessary treatments via regular trips / extended stays at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. The cost of travels to Boston, treatments, hospital stays and family care have put the Hoggards in a financial crisis; and the treatments are ongoing.
Our goal is to assist as best we can. During the month of October, the members of North Star Lodge are holding a bottle drive seeking donations of redeemable bottles and/or cans from our community members. Along with the bottle/can donations, we are also seeking pledges towards the bottle drive: one dollar or more for every 1,000 returnables collected. A cash donation will be prodly accepted, should you desire. Should you prefer to cash in your returnables and donate cash, please feel free. Lodge members will come to pick up any donations if necessary.
100% of the proceeds will be awarded to the Hoggard family. For accountability, receipts will be provided to confirm the actual count/number of bottles/cans redeemed. We are appealing to you to provide any assistance that you can.
Please help us help others, as we may never know what tomorrow will bring for any of us. Thank you for your kindness and support. May you and your loved ones be Blessed in all of your activities and endeavors. For further information you may contact the names provided below:
