The Daycare Center

The Neighborhood Early Childhood Center’s mission is to nurture and enrich the lives of all children during the formative years of early learning, creating a solid foundation for them to flourish, thus ensuring that they become life-long learners. The Neighborhood is a licensed preschool and daycare center where children ages 6 weeks to 5 years develop self-confidence and the desire to learn and explore through play.

Our children participate in activities that encompass the eight domains set forth by the State of Maine learning guidelines. We maintain a healthy balance between teacher-directed and child-directed activities. To limit the amount of time spent in a large group, we utilize learning and play stations.

We strongly believe that children experience the joy of discovery and build self-confidence and socialization skills through play. Using their imaginations and creativity in their daily projects, we encourage children to build upon their problem-solving techniques.

The Neighborhood believes that communication between the parents, guardians, and the staff is vital in providing the highest quality process. We encourage families to actively participate in our programs by welcoming them to read stories, share special snacks, accompany us on field trips, or enjoy watching the continuous learning happening throughout the classroom.

Graduates of our program take with them a love of learning. They are self-confident, capable of forming friendships, positively express themselves, and continuously seek answers. We give them the skills necessary to succeed in furthering their education.

Your child is cared for by our loving, supportive staff. The Neighborhood Early Childhood Center has one teacher for every seven children, so your child gets individualized attention.
